The Parent’s Guide to Internal Family Systems (IFS)
You know the “what” of parenting. Here’s the “how” to stay calm, connected, and Self‑led. Even when you’re triggered.
Introducing IFS for Parents

Hi, I’m Eric D. Greene. As a parent coach and dedicated IFS practitioner, I guide parents through the inner work that transforms families.
I’m the author of Peaceful Parenting Basics and I base my approach on the core IFS belief of “No Bad Parts,” helping you replace shame and reactivity with curiosity and self-compassion.
My mission is to help you heal so you can lead your family from a place of calm and connection.
The Gap in Mainstream Parenting Advice
The gap in most parenting advice is when you’ve embraced the ideas of a more connected, gentle approach. You know the goal is connection, not control. You understand the principles of non-punitive parenting and emotional validation.
Yet, in the heat of the moment when you’re exhausted, overwhelmed, and your child isn’t responding according to your expectations, a part of you still feels hijacked. But you lose control of yourself, even when you’re doing your absolute best to remain self-regulated.
You might not even yell or threaten, but instead you find yourself shutting down, dissociating, or going numb.
This is the gap that most advice doesn’t address. It’s about what to do when your own internal system is in chaos. Knowing what to do is not the same as being able to do it. That is where most parents struggle.
I am here to tell you – you are not alone and there is a way through this
IFS: The ‘How’ Behind the ‘What’ of Peaceful Parenting
Internal Family Systems (IFS) provides the map to your inner world. It’s the practical “how” that empowers the “what” in parenting.
What IFS reveals is the way our minds work. The core idea is that every part of ourselves has a positive intention, even those that lead to over-reactions, loss of emotional control, or numbing.
By learning to connect with the calm, compassionate core Self that is in all of us, you can lead your inner system instead of being overwhelmed by it.
